Abstract

Ovaj rad ima zadaću sistematizirano opisati nastanak i tijek razvoja fagota u 17. i 18. stoljeću, jednom od najplodnijih razdoblja u literaturi toga instrumenta. Podijeljen u tri cjeline, rad kronološkim slijedom uz razjašnjavanje uzročno-posljedičnih veza opisuje potrebu i način razvoja kao i praktičnu upotrebu fagota. Prva cjelina opisuje nastanak i tijek razvoja drvenih puhačkih instrumenata od početaka glazbe uopće, potrebe koje su se u korištenju tih instrumenata javljale te uzroke njihova konzistentnog usavršavanja kroz povijest koje dovodi do nastanka i razvoja preteča fagota na kraju 16. stoljeća. Druga cjelina opisuje i razjašnjava tijek nastanka i razvoja samoga fagota, tradicije njegove izrade i najvažnije graditeljske škole. U trećoj je cjelini predstavljena najznačajnija solistička i komorna literatura 18. stoljeća te načini kojima europski skladatelji toga stoljeća u svojim djelima tretiraju fagot.

Abstract (english)

The purpose of this thesis is to systematically describe the emergence and the course of development of the bassoon in the 17th and 18th century, in one of the most prolific times of the bassoon’s literature. Divided into three parts, this thesis describes the bassoon’s evolution, the need for its development and its practical use in a chronological order with clear causal connections. First part of the thesis describes the emergence and the development of woodwind instruments from the earliest forms of music, the demands and needs in the usage of those instruments and the causes of their consistent improvements which led to the emergence of the bassoon’s precursors at the end of the 16th century. The second part explains the course of emergence and the development of the bassoon itself, the traditions of bassoon making and the most important instrument-building workshops. The third and final part of the thesis presents the most significant pieces of solo and chamber literature of the 18th century and the ways the composers of the time treated the bassoon in their works.
