Abstract

Ovaj diplomski rad bavi se analizom lika Desdemone iz opere Otello Giuseppea Verdija. Najprije su prikazani životopisi G. Verdija i njegova libretista Arriga Boita te njihova suradnja na opernom djelu Otello. Dalje se govori o povijesti nastanka same opere te se iznose neke zanimljivosti o njoj. Ukratko se navode činjenice o piscu Williamu Shakespeareu i njegovu utjecaju na Verdijevo stvaralaštvo. Analizirana je drama Othello i lik Desdemone iz tog djela. Desdemona kao lik opere analizira se na temelju libreta i klavirskog izvatka, a u centru je analize četvrti čin opere u kojemu se nalaze njezine dvije arije Salce i Ave Maria. Iz literature i na temelju zvučnih primjera prikazana je izvođačka praksa lika Desdemone. Na kraju se iznose osobna iskustva autorice s izvođenjem ove uloge te navodi problematika s kojom se susrećemo prilikom izvođenja.

Abstract (english)

This thesis deals with the analysis of the character Desdemona from the Giuseppe Verdi´s opera Otello. The biographies of Giuseppe Verdi and the librettist Arrigo Boita as well as their collaboration on the Otello opera are first to be described. The history of the opera itself is discussed below and a few interesting facts are presented about it. The facts about the writer William Shakespeare and his influence on Verdi's work are briefly summarized. Desdemona as an opera character is analyzed on the basis of libretto and piano excerpt. The central part of the analysis is the fourth act of opera in which her two arias Salce and Ave Maria are located. From the literature and based on sound examples, the performative practice of the character Desdemona is shown. In the end, the author's personal experiences with performing this role are outlined, as well as the problems we are facing when performing the aforementioned role.
