Abstract
Jean Sibelius jedan je od najvećih finskih skladatelja i majstora orkestralne glazbe devetnaestoga i dvadesetoga stoljeća. Rođen je 8. prosinca 1865. u gradiću imenom Tavastehus. Imao je brata Christiana i sestru Lindu koji su se također bavili glazbom. Osnovno i srednjoškolsko obrazovanje završio je u Finskoj, no ljubav prema glazbi odvela ga je u Berlin, a potom u Beč na školovanje. Tijekom glazbenog školovanja bio je pod vodstvom velikih glazbenika kao što su M. Wegelius (Finska), W. Bargiel i A. Becker (tijekom obrazovanja u Berlinu od 1889. do 1890.) te K. Goldmark i R. Fuchs (tijekom obrazovanja u Beču od 1890. do 1891.).
