Abstract
Šezdesete godine su bile za Ameriku doba izrazitih kulturno-političkih promjena, te snažnih rasnih i socijalnih previranja. Slijedeće situacije su doprinijele "zahuktavanju" društvene klime: vijetnamski rat, buđenje svijesti Crnaca te umorstva Johna F. Kennedyja, Malcolma X-a i Martina Luthera Kinga. Rad istražuje utjecaj ovih društvenih okolnosti na promjene u popularnoj glazbi, osobito u jazzu, unutar kojega se javlja nova struja - free jazz.
