Abstract

Od saksofonista se danas traži da budu prilagodljivi u žanrovima. Mnogim je klasičnim saksofonistima strano muziciranje na otvorenim usnicima. Također je za sviranje jazza i sličnih žanrova potrebno prilagoditi ambažuru, zvuk, impostaciju, fraziranje. U ovom će se radu prezentirati općenite informacije o saksofonu, uz opis dijelova i građe usnika te poveznici usnika i saksofona. Sručne čitatelje će se detaljnije informirati o američkoj i francuskoj klasičnoj školi i o jazzu. Ovi su žanrovi utjecali na stil sviranja. Po njima su se proizvodili usnici kako bi zvuk bio što autentičniji, zapravo bliži zahtjevima klasičnog orkestra, ali i jazz orkestra, puno svjetliji i glasniji. Za pravilan zvuk potrebno je znati činjenice o ambažuri i o vrstama ambažure. U radu se pojašnjava kako razlika sviranja otvorenih i zatvorenih usnika proizlazi iz vještine svirača da vješto barata usnikom. Koristi se mnogo podataka Thea Wannea koji je 1998. otvorio „Saxophone Mouthpiece Heavenˮ koja je postala najveća svjetska baza podataka o saksofonskim usnicima.

Abstract (english)

Nowadays, it is expected from saxophonists to be genre adaptable. Most classical saxophonists are unfamiliar with playing on open tip mouthpieces. For playing jazz and similar genres it is also required to adjust the embouchure, the sound, the setting and the phrasing. In this thesis, some general information about saxophone will be presented, including the description of the parts and the structure of the mouthpiece, as well as the correlations between the mouthpiece and the saxophone. It is also crucial to familiarize professional readers in greater detail about the American and French schools of classical saxophone and about jazz. These genres have made an impact on the playing style. The mouthpieces were made by their impression so the sound could be more authentic, actually closer to the requirements of the classical orchestra, but also the jazz orchestra, much brighter and louder. For the correct sound it is necessary to know the facts about the embouchure and about the types of embouchure. In this thesis it is explained how the difference between playing on an open mouthpiece versus playing with on a closed mouthpiece results from a player’s skill to handle the mouthpiece. A lot of data that is used comes from Theo Wanne, who opened “The Saxophone Mouthpiece Heaven” in 1998. , which has become the world’s biggest database about the mouthpieces of the saxophone.
