Abstract
Prvi dio rada objašnjava ulogu kontrabasa u jazz glazbi od samih početaka pa do modernih pristupa kontrabasa u post bop glazbi. Potom slijedi pregled najvažnijih jazz kontrabasista 20. stoljeća, od Europe pa do Amerike s objašnjenjem njihovih tehnika sviranja, glazbenih linija te glazbenih diskografija kao sidemani i lidermani. Među njima su Slam Stewart, Jimmy Blanton, Dave Holland
