Abstract

U spisima o glazbi Rolanda Barthesa moguće je primijetiti dva „tona“ kojima se govori o slušanju. Prvi je onaj koji slušanje opisuje kao pasivno i receptivno i smješta ga u građansku kulturu, što je, za Barthesa, negativan kontekst. Drugi je onaj kojim Barthes govori o vlastitu slušanju. S obzirom na to da uz vlastito slušanje Barthes spominje tijelo, kao i to da ističe svoju praksu sviranja klavira, lako se stječe dojam da je Barthes prije svega svirač-amater, a ne slušatelj. Ovaj se rad bavi ispitivanjem mogućnosti da se Barthesa shvati kao onoga tko sluša, a ne samo kao onoga tko svira.

Abstract (english)

Two different ‘tones’ of speaking about listening are discernible in Roland Barthes’ writings on music. The first one describes listening as something passive and receptive, and places it in the bourgeois culture, which for Barthes, is a negative context. The second is the tone Barthes uses to describe his own listening. Regarding the fact that when speaking about his own listening, Barthes will often mention the body, as well as his piano practice, he can easily be thought of as an amateur player rather than a listener. This paper examines the possibilities for thinking about Barthes as someone who listens and not only someone who plays.
