Abstract

Robert Schumann je svoj Koncert za violončelo i orkestar u a-molu, op. 129. skladao pod utjecajem tragičnog događaja, pokušaja samoubojstva. Skladao ga je 1850. u Düsseldorfu, a objavljen je 1854. pod nazivom Konzertstück. Koncert je posvećen je Rudolfu Metzmachenu i premijerno je izveden 9. srpnja 1860. godine u Leipzigu. Nažalost, već su se oko 1833. godine pojavili prvi simptomi Schumannove duševne bolesti i vrlo je vjerojatno kako su njegove slušne halucinacije utjecale na sam proces skladanja. U koncertu se vodi dramatična borba sa sretnim završetkom, gdje dobro na kraju pobjeđuje zlo i smrt. Prvi stavak donosi bitku, drugi stavak prikazuje smirenje i meditaciju, a treći donosi pobjedu i slavljenje života. Violončelu je dodijeljena glavna uloga zbog izražajnosti i ljepote tona, a veliku podršku dionici violončela pruža orkestar u dijalogu, harmonijskoj pratnji, bogatstvu melodije i tematskom razvoju.

Abstract (english)

Robert Schumann composed his Cello concerto in A-minor, op. 129, under the influence of a tragic event, his attempted suicide. He composed it in Düsseldorf in 1850, and the concerto was released in 1854 under the name Konzertstück. It was dedicated to Rudolf Metzmachen, and had its premiere in Leipzig on July 9, 1860. Unfortunately, somewhere around 1833 the first symptoms of Schumann`s mental disorder appeared, and it is very likely that his auditory hallucinations influenced the process of composing. In the concerto we witness the dramatic fight with a happy ending, where the good bears victory over the evil and death. The first movement portrays the fight, the second one brings appeasement and meditation, and the third one the victory and celebration of life. The cello plays the most important role because of its expressiveness and beauty of the tone. A big support to the cello is the orchestra in the dialogue, harmonic accompaniment, richness of the melody and thematic development.
