Abstract

Studij saksofona na Muzičkoj akademiji u Zagrebu pokrenut je 1977. godine. Kroz četrdeset godina postojanja studija diplomiralo je 43 studenata – 38 saksofonista i 5 saksofonistica. Svojevrsnu protutežu dugogodišnjoj podzastupljenosti studentica saksofona predstavlja trenutna situacija na studiju, na kojem u ovom trenutku studira 11 studenata – 6 studenata i 5 studentica. Nijedna od akademskih saksofonistica, koje su studij završile na zagrebačkoj akademiji danas, međutim, ne živi isključivo od umjetničkog rada, nijedna ne nastupa redovito kao solistica, nijedna nije stalnom članicom nekog od orkestara ili ansambala umjetničke glazbe, već se većina njih bavi pedagoškim radom i najvećim dijelom od tog rada živi. Kroz kvalitativno istraživanje, koje počiva na intervjuima sa sedam saksofonistica i saksofonista te interpretaciji znanstvenih radova o suvremenoj problematici glazbenica u ovaj rad pokušava detektirati pojave i apostrofirati probleme vezane uz žensko bavljenje umjetničkom odnosno klasičnom glazbom na saksofonu u Hrvatskoj.

Abstract (english)

The classical saxophone performance study at the Music Academy in Zagreb opened for the first time in 1977. During forty years of existance 43 students – 30 male and 5 female – graduated from the Department of Wind Instruments as academic saxophonists. None of the women saxophonists who graduated at the Academy of Zagreb, however, does live exclusively of their artistic work, none of them performs regularly as a soloist, none is a permanent member of any orchestra or an ensemble of art music. Instead, most of them are engaged in pedagogical work, which at the same time represents their primary source of income. Through qualitative research, based on semi-structured interviews with seven (female and male) saxophonists, and the insights gained from scholarly works dedicated to the study of gender dynamics in the world of classicaly trained musicians, this thesis tries to detect the specific phenomena and underline important issues related to women's engagement with art or classical music on saxophone in Croatia.
